Look around you
Who made the sky? Allah. Who made the birds, the trees, the rain, the sea? Allah. Who made YOU? Allah. Go outside and point at five things and say "Allah made that" for each one. It is a game and it is also the first thing a Muslim knows.
Allah is not like anything we see
We cannot see Allah with our eyes, and Allah is not like anything He made. He is not a person, not an animal, not a picture. We know Allah by what He tells us about Himself and by what He has made. Little children ask this question, and this is the honest answer.
Saying thank you
When you see something beautiful — a rainbow, a kitten, a flower — you can say SubhanAllah, which means "how perfect Allah is". It is what Muslims say when something amazes them. Try it the next time you see something that makes you stop and look.
Go outside and find five things nobody made: a tree, a cloud, a bird, a stone, the sky. Now find five things people made: a bench, a bag, a window, a road, a shoe. Everything in the second list was made from something in the first — the bench from a tree, the window from sand. Say Alhamdulillah for one thing from each list, and you have noticed where both lists come from.
