The Battle of Uhud
625 CE · The Prophetic Era
A year after Badr, the Muslims meet Quraysh again by Mount Uhud. Early success turns to loss when archers leave their assigned position; the Prophet ﷺ is injured and his uncle Hamza (RA) is martyred. Surah Aal-Imran devotes a long passage to the day's lessons — including the famous consolation: "Do not weaken and do not grieve" (3:139).
A year after Badr, the Quraysh returned and met the Muslims at Uhud. Initial success turned to setback when archers left their post; the Prophet (peace be upon him) was wounded and Hamza (RA) was martyred. The battle taught lessons in obedience and trust in Allah despite apparent loss.
