Bismillah and Alhamdulillah

Two little words, all day long
BISMILLAH means "in the name of Allah". We say it when we start: before eating, before going out, before opening a book. ALHAMDULILLAH means "all praise is for Allah". We say it after: after eating, after a drink of water, after something goes well. Two words that turn ordinary moments into talking to Allah.
Try it today
Before your next meal, say Bismillah out loud. When you finish, say Alhamdulillah. Grown-ups can say it with you the first few times. Doing it is how it sticks — not being told about it.
Why we say them
Saying Bismillah is a way of remembering that everything good comes from Allah, even a plate of food or a sunny day. It is a small thank-you, and small thank-yous said often make a grateful heart. That is the whole reason we start young.
Say Bismillah before you start: before eating, before getting in the car, before beginning your work. Say Alhamdulillah after something good: after the meal, when you get home safely, when something turns out well. Count how many times each fits into one ordinary day — most children are surprised how many. They are not spells; they are a way of noticing who everything came from.
