Imam al-Bukhari completes his Sahih

870 CE · The Abbasid Caliphate & Golden Age

After some sixteen years of travel and the examination of hundreds of thousands of reports, Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari completes al-Jami as-Sahih — the collection Muslims came to regard as the most rigorously authenticated book after the Quran. Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, his student, completes his own Sahih in the same generation.
