Prophet Salih
After 'Ad; people of Thamud (traditionally 3rd–2nd millennium BCE).
Salih was sent to the people of Thamud, who came after 'Ad and built dwellings in the rocks (as in the region of al-Hijr in northwestern Arabia). They were given strength and wealth but worshipped idols. Salih called them to worship Allah alone; they demanded a sign, and Allah sent a she-camel that was to share their water on alternate days. When they hamstrung and killed her, Salih warned them of punishment in three days. A blast or earthquake destroyed them; Salih and the believers had left and were saved. The Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by their ruins on the way to Tabuk and warned his companions not to enter upon them.
