بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ — the basmalah is the perfect first line: it contains joins, sukoon, shadda, and a long vowel, and you will read it thousands of times in your life. Sound it syllable by syllable: bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem. Notice how the written words flow together in recitation — that flowing is normal Arabic, not an exception.
