Uthman (RA) standardises the mushaf

As Islam spreads among new peoples, Uthman (RA) commissions Zayd ibn Thabit (RA) and a committee to produce a single authoritative copy of the Quran from the compilation made under Abu Bakr (RA), checked against the memory of the companions. Copies are sent to the major cities — the same consonantal text every printed mushaf carries today.
