Prophet Ishaq (Isaac)
c. 19th–18th century BCE (Islamic and Biblical tradition).
Ishaq (Isaac) was the son of Ibrahim and Sarah, born in their old age when the angels brought glad tidings. He was a prophet and a righteous man; Allah gave him and his household prophethood and scripture. He married Rebekah (Rifqah) bint Bethuel; she bore him twins, Esau (al-'Eis) and Yaqub. Ill feeling grew between the brothers; Yaqub fled. Ishaq grew old and died at one hundred and eighty; his sons buried him with Ibrahim in the cave. From his son Yaqub came the Children of Israel and many prophets. The Quran affirms that Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq and Yaqub were not Jews or Christians but Muslims.
