First Revelation — The Beginning of Islam
610 CE · The Prophetic Era
At age 40, during the month of Ramadan, the Angel Jibreel (AS) appears to the Prophet ﷺ in the Cave of Hira on Jabal al-Nour and delivers the first verses of the Quran: "Iqra' bismi rabbika alladhi khalaq" (Read in the name of your Lord who created). The Prophet ﷺ returns home trembling, and Khadijah (RA) becomes the first person to embrace Islam.
