Frequency-first: the vocabulary that compounds

Quranic vocabulary is mercifully top-heavy: a small set of words does an enormous share of the work. The name Allah alone occurs about 2,700 times; rabb around 970; qala and its forms over 1,700. Learn a few hundred of the most frequent words and you recognise MOST running words on any page — because the frequent words are frequent everywhere. Topic lists (animals, colours) feel organised but load rare words first; frequency order pays from the first week.
