Many ayat came in answer to a moment — a question asked, an accusation made, a treaty broken. These reports, asbab an-nuzul, are collected in works like al-Wahidi’s. They illuminate: knowing that an ayah answered a specific slander explains its heat. But the scholars’ rule is firm: the lesson follows the WORDING’S generality, not the specific occasion — an ayah revealed about one man still addresses everyone whose case matches his.
