Surah Al-Qiyamah (75)

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
Saheeh International.
وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ
And I swear by the reproaching soul 1 [to the certainty of resurrection].
Saheeh International.
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
Saheeh International.
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
Saheeh International.
بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ
But man desires to continue in sin. 1
Saheeh International.
يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
Saheeh International.
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ
So when vision is dazzled.
Saheeh International.
وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ
And the moon darkens.
Saheeh International.
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ
And the sun and the moon are joined,
Saheeh International.
يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
Saheeh International.
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ
No! There is no refuge.
Saheeh International.
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
Saheeh International.
يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead 1 and kept back. 2
Saheeh International.
بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 1
Saheeh International.
وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ
Even if he presents his excuses.
Saheeh International.
لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
Saheeh International.
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
Saheeh International.
فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
Saheeh International.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
Saheeh International.
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ
No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate
Saheeh International.
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ
And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.
Saheeh International.
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,
Saheeh International.
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
Looking at their Lord. 1
Saheeh International.
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ
And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,
Saheeh International.
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.
Saheeh International.
كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ
No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones 1
Saheeh International.
وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ
And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"
Saheeh International.
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ
And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation
Saheeh International.
وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ
And the leg is wound about the leg, 1
Saheeh International.
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ
To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 1
Saheeh International.
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ
And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed.
Saheeh International.
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
But [instead], he denied and turned away.
Saheeh International.
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ
And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
Saheeh International.
أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
Woe to you, and woe!
Saheeh International.
ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ
Then woe to you, and woe!
Saheeh International.
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى
Does man think that he will be left neglected? 1
Saheeh International.
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?
Saheeh International.
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him]
Saheeh International.
فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.
Saheeh International.
أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
Saheeh International.
