The Hijrah of 622 CE was not a flight in panic. It followed two pledges at Aqabah in which Madinah’s tribes formally took the Prophet ﷺ as leader; believers migrated ahead in waves; and the Prophet’s own departure was planned in detail — Ali sleeping in his bed to return entrusted deposits (they still trusted him with their valuables while plotting his death), Abu Bakr’s family running supplies, a hired expert guide, and a route SOUTH toward Yemen when every pursuer watched the northern road.
