From tilawah to sanad: the road, stage by stage

The traditional road has stages that do not reorder: tashih at-tilawah — correcting your reading with a teacher until every letter exits rightly; then talaqqi — reciting TO the teacher regularly, absorbing the sound by imitation; then, for those seeking it, hifz with tajweed applied from day one; then the khatmah — reciting the ENTIRE mushaf from memory to a sheikh across many sittings; and only then, at the sheikh’s discretion, the ijazah with its sanad. Each stage exists because the next one presumes it. Skipping tashih to rush hifz is how errors get memorised — and unlearning is slower than learning.
